Our “Why?”.

Africa has a youthful population made up of enthusiastic and energetic young people who, with sufficient supportive policies and programmes in place, could drive transformative socio-economic progress.

The African population remains the world’s fastest-growing with children and youth aged below 30yrs constituting over 70% of the population. Africa has a potential demographic dividend as its labour force grows to be the largest in the world by 2035 and its dependency ratio declines. According to projections, by 2100 Africa will account for 80% of the projected 4 billion increase in the global population, when most advanced economies will face an ageing population.

Investments in education and transition to stable formal employment are critical in capitalising on this demographic dividend in the continent, and accelerating sustained socio-economic progress that will be a key driver in Africa’s global repositioning agenda.

The African Dream Foundation believes that meaningfully investing in education, up-skilling and the employment of Africa’s youth, are key drivers in capitalising on the demographic dividend and lift many young people out of generational poverty. We enable a network of leaders with purpose, and who will not only deliver results, but also influence accelerated socio-economic progress across Africa. We do this through our Scholarships and Fellowships.

In the long term, the collective impact of our work and others like us will result in self-actualised young leaders who proficiently and actively engage in the formal labour market. We want an Africa where local economies thrive as a direct result of our investments in youth.

Our Purpose.

Our shared purpose is to enhance and nourish the capabilities that lie within Africa's youth by lowering barriers to education and employment, so they can become leaders who will drive sustained and impactful socio-economic progress. Our success is defined by creating an environment and providing the resources for the next generation of high potential leaders to collectively influence accelerated socio-economic change. We do this through scholarships, fellowships; and integrated leadership development and mentoring.
